November 10, 2020
WSVN 7 News released an article on November 9th about Pfizer's vaccine test results showing a 90% effectiveness rate at preventing COVID-19. The announcement put the company on track to apply later this month for emergency-use approval from the Food and Drug Administration. Here's what Dr. Bill Gruber had to say:
"We're in a position potentially to be able to offer some hope," said Pfizer's Senior Vice President of Clinical Development to the Associated Press.
The U.S. government's top infectious disease expert, Dr. Anthony Fauci, said the results suggesting 90% effectiveness were extraordinary. He said, "Not very many people expected it would be as high as that." He also then added, "It's going to have a major impact on everything we do with respect to COVID-19." Fauci claims that Pfizer is taking charge and leading in the race between pharmaceutical companies and countries with top-tier scientists developing a vaccine for the virus.
The news was encouraging enough that almost every news channel across the globe published a headline about the Pfizer vaccine, giving us something to hope for in 2021. Read the full article here: Pfizer says early analysis shows its COVID-19 vaccine is 90% effective
