more aggressively in an effort to reduce the impact that nightlife has on the rise of COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations.
Since late September, punitive measures on people who violate the CDC's guidelines for COVID-19 prevention have been seriously limited by Gov. Ron DeSantis' suspension of fines and penalties order. The police have their hands tied. This controversial order made it difficult to slow the spread of the virus by enforcing safety measures. This is especially true in Miami's nightlife were evidence suggests that many people tend to ignore these safety measures in restaurants, bars, and nightclubs. Resulting in the surge of COVID-19 cases we have seen recently during this holiday season. These are the reasons why city commissioners unanimously agreed to start implementing curfew starting this weekend.
